2023 Board Elections

Volunteering for the board is a fun and rewarding experience. In recent years, we have struggled to recruit volunteers for the board. We need your help! The board has an important role in helping improve the club for current and future members. We have an amazing club – but it requires constant effort – and you could be a big part!

In consideration for their service to the club, board members who have served their term (and have attended 80% of meetings) receive complimentary membership dues the year following their term.

Many committees have two positions with offset terms to help ensure continuity (see the current board here). Board members whose positions are not filled for the next term may be asked to volunteer to remain in the position.

Elections for the 2023 board will be held during the August 22nd general meeting (7 pm). The following positions will be available:

Building & Grounds

This volunteer (along with their committee counterpart) is responsible for all club maintenance (other than day-to-day work handled by the staff) and facility improvements. Experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or engineering is highly recommended. Our budget is tight – and projects often require an in-house, hands-on approach. A very “handy” individual with an extensive tool collection and strong motivation is a perfect fit for this role.

Concessions

The snack shack is managed by the concessions committee. A volunteer in this role coordinates products, inventory, and finances. This is a two-year role. A comprehensive list of duties is available on this wiki page.

Social

The social committee plans and oversees fun social events for members to participate in throughout the summer. A comprehensive list of duties is available on this wiki page.

Swim Team

This role coordinates everything for the swim team – from kick-off to League Meet. This role alternates between a two- and three-year board position. The incoming board will serve a three-year term from 2023 to 2025. This ensures no one would serve their first-year term when Fairway Farms hosts League Meet.  A comprehensive list of duties is available on this wiki page.

Treasurer

The election of a second treasurer for 2023 depends on a vote that will be held during the general meeting. Our present treasurer will remain in the role through 2023.

This position requires an accounting background. The treasurer attends to keeping the club accounts, collects revenue, manages staff payroll, and pays bills. This is a two-year role. A comprehensive list of duties is available on this wiki page.
